Super Bowl XLVIII
LookingIn:
--- Quote from: Zebediah on 03 Feb 2014, 14:05 ---It says something about the lopsided nature of the contest that more people are talking about the multilingual Coke commercial today than about the actual game.

Nope, that's about right for a Super Bowl...it's been more about the commercials than the actual game for at least 20 years if not longer.

--- Quote from: jwhouk on 03 Feb 2014, 15:21 ---]
The trophy wasn't given a name until Super Bowl V, when it was called the Vince Lombardi Memorial Trophy, after the deceased former head coach of the Packers and Redskins, and patron saint of Football, gruffness, and generally being a goddamn American.Unlike many other trophies, the Lombardi Trophy isn't a traveling trophy; the NFL makes copies of it for each Super Bowl.

Of course, the Stanley Cup wasn't created by owners of sports teams, so there's that.
Even though I love football and I'm a big baseball fan, the Stanley Cup >>>>>>>>>>>>>> the Lombardi Trophy >>> the Commissioner's Trophy.
Method of Madness:
I honestly didn't even know there was a trophy for winning the World Series.

Yes, yes, we know. Come on, my good man, I'm from WISCONSIN. "Lombardi" still evokes thoughts of success, winning, pride, and superiority.
