The only purpose would be to interact better with humans. It is part of the overall body language that she is equipped to display (in accordance with her social interaction database).

In Mass Effect, Legion outright states that its body has been fitted with eyebrow-like facial features for the very purpose of better interacting with organics.
...
I just felt like geeking out on this barely-relevant point. Sorry.

--- Quote from: LoliButt on 10 Feb 2014, 00:05 ---What I'm getting at is that context is important!
Dale is aware that he could seem creepy even though he's touched by how adorable Mar-Bear can be.
--- End quote ---
His aknowledging it being potentially creepy out of context goes a long way, but seriously Dale should relax. He's not some random creep who sneaked in to peek on a sleeping woman. He's speaking of a woman who invited him to take her out on a date. A woman who clinged to him when he told of leaving. A woman he already made out with.
And he's just saying he's just as happy watching her sleep quietly instead of anything else happening.
Dale dude, give yourself some credit.

Dale: BRAAAAAAAAIIIIIINNNNSSSS!
Marigold: DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE!

I LOLd. Literally. My neighbours must hate me right now.

--- Quote from: cesariojpn on 10 Feb 2014, 04:02 ---I'm more concerned actually for Marigold. She's been socially awkward for god knows how long, so being in a date with Dale is a big shock to her it seems. Remember, this is a person who actually loathed the other over a MMO, and both antagonized each other and their first time together......was the equivalent of a shotgun wedding courtesy of Momo. And look how that turned out.

As much as Marigold has improved in not being socially awkward, ya can't exactly erase it all in one swoop. I imagine there will still be some lingering doubts here and there, even if Momo can vouch in the positive for Dale.

--- End quote ---
As I have mentioned earlier, the Momo/Marigold companionship must be there for a reason. Momo has a mission to improve Marigold's life (because that is what she wanted to do). This is implemented by a combination of suggestions, threats, advice, comforting, and manipulation.

Still, there is that little aspect that it can go tits up in a heartbeat.

Barmymoo:
Watching someone sleep is different from kissing someone on the neck because it doesn't involve any kind of physical contact. I've watched people sleep who aren't my partners (friends, family members, people I'm looking after in some way or another). Dale was invited over, invited in, and is now keeping an eye on a friend who is not entirely with it, whilst admittedly being happy to spend time near her. I don't think it's creepy, I think it's sweet. Momo's presence as a chaperone of sorts seems relevant to my opinion, I think.

Case:

--- Quote ---He lay, often, looking at her sleeping face in the new light that fell in through the open walls of the strange house, and he stared at her skin and hair with his mouth open, transfixed by the quick stillness of her, struck dumb with the physical fact of her existence as though she was some careless star-thing that slept on quite unaware of its incandescent power; the casualness and ease with which she slept there amazed him; he couldn’t believe that such beauty could survive without some superhumanly intense conscious effort.

Use of Weapons, Ian M. Banks
--- End quote ---

Thrillho:
That's beautiful.
