Schwungrad:
Regardless of Marten's noble motive of "sparing her feelings", if he doesn't want to talk with Tai about his feelings concerning Delilah, that's his good right, and saying something like "yeah, fine, all went well" is IMO a perfectly acceptable way of avoiding the topic.

Valdís:

--- Quote from: KOK on 06 Mar 2014, 01:56 ---There is a big difference. Marten lied about something that doesn't concern Tai anyway, and he did it in order to spare her feelings.
--- End quote ---

Of course there is and I didn't claim otherwise. But you're agreeing here that it is a lie, regardless of manipulating the language for excuses. I also said that Tai probably wouldn't care about it. I find it more likely that she'd be concerned about the fact that he was bummed out as a result n' stuff.

--- Quote from: pwhodges on 06 Mar 2014, 02:15 ---As in: "Technically, <this>; but actually, <that>."
--- End quote ---

Exactly, and it's in that manner it creates excuses. It's just conveniently not mentioning the second half again.

"Technically I didn't answer that part of the question; but in reality I clearly did so with the intent of having you take it as an answer to both."

JESUS CHRIST MARTEN

I think Marten is an OK dude, but calling him Jesus Christ ? Thats kind of going too far !

--- Quote from: Barmymoo on 05 Mar 2014, 13:51 ---I got incredibly northern or something, but "northern" appeared to encompass the entire top half of the UK, including the Midlands where there is quite a distinctive dialect which bears no resemblance to, for instance, the Yorkshire or Newcastle dialects. It's oversimplified, basically.

--- End quote ---
Plus, I have it on good authority that lots of planets have a north.
