Schmorgluck:
Speaking of Spathe Stout, I've been wondering for a long time if it would be possible to brew beer in space IN SPAAAAACE.
Gravity plays a significant role in brewing processes, so micro-gravity and freefall are out. I have an intuition that centrifugal artificial gravity would cause convection currents in the tanks, which would disturb the process, but I don't have the actual knowledge to explore the issue. Any insight, someone?

cesium133:
Supposedly they're trying it on the International Space Station.

Schmorgluck:
That's several levels of awesome!  :-o

Why would that cause a problem? From the brewing tank's reference frame, the force is constant, and in a constant direction. Depending on the size of your tank compared to the size of your station, there might be a small difference in G-force between the top and the bottom, but that wouldn't cause anomalous currents to form. And since you probably wouldn't be producing beer for export to Earth, but only enough for the use of your station's staff, you wouldn't need a huge tank in the first place. I'm thinking it would work fine.
