It takes too long...  approaching half an hour to reach 2048 in my experience; last week I got that close to 4096, but missed it (score around 36k).

I've gotten close to 8192 a couple of times - one time I had 4096 with a 2048 next to it and a 1024 next to that. Never made it, though, and for now I've quit trying. Someday, though, someday...

Do you guys use any particular strategies? Can't get past 1024.

You need to keep them sorted. Keep the highest number in a corner, and the other high values on the same edge (I usually sort to bottom left, so my highest number is in the bottom left corner and the other big blocks are in the bottom row.

I find repeating down-left-down-left with the occasional up or right works pretty well.
