That's the thing about evil, which I think is why I can't stand superhero/supervillain-type stories. If you ask the typical comic supervillain why he does evil things, he'll reply "because I enjoy being evil." If you ask a real person why he does evil things, he'll say "I'm not doing evil, I'm doing good things. Those other guys are the evil ones." Because nobody, including Hitler, does evil things willingly. They do evil things because they think they're doing good things.
