Threats to the current state of the biosphere is how I'd perceive it. Other species may also feel it (extinctions, anyone?), though we are the ones that are conscious of it.
But change is always on the cards; the only issue is the extent to which we can be held directly responsible for influencing or even driving some aspect of it.

A fascinating man, I think he'd be interesting to have a conversation with as well. Albeit there is no shortage of such people through out the centuries.
