You could also download a decent file-copy program such as TeraCopy :)

That sounds like even a better one.  I still don't understand why copying files (especially fscked ones) is so damned frustrating from the standard GUI.  On both *nix and FruitOS, I find myself forced to go to the command-line if I want things to work properly.

You're getting great advice here - I'm out.  :)

ankhtahr:
yeah, on linux I'd have suggested ddrescue.

Barmymoo:
My friend brought her (more up to date) laptop over and the DVD played straight off on hers, so I guess it's partly an issue with my DVD player or laptop; however, other DVDs are fine on mine so who knows?

So is this a general IT support thread? This might be a little silly, but I really want to get the Sims 4 when it comes out, but apparently EA are being jerks (as usual) and aren't making a Mac version in the foreseeable future. Apparently you can set up Windows on a Mac through something called Bootcamp, but an extra operating system takes up quite a lot of space and I wouldn't use it for anything other than this one game. Also Windows is expensive and I don't feel like spending $100 extra on a game (who would). Are there any other ways of playing a PC game on a Mac?
