As the former official keeper of the pun jar, I am reasonably certain that the water was mine - it was part of the feeding mechanism for the squirrel.

I guess AnthroPCs stay in some sort of energy saving mode when people aren't around. After all they are companion AIs. About the need for sleep, considering that they have mammal like mindset (their emotions seems similar to humans) And their clock speed they could sleep for a few seconds every hour and nobody would notice. Gerbils alternate many periods of activity and sleep during the day instead of sleeping for hours in a row like us.
