A question about Tai
hedgie:
Just started a thread in Relate for geek speak, to at least give you guys a place to shove such posts when they start to derail the thread, as well as make it easier for people to ask/answer questions on the matter.

At least, I think it's Perl.

As I said elsewhere in the forum only yesterday, it is decades older than Perl; I wrote a text editor in the early 1970s using it, and I don't claim to have invented it (because I didn't).

The s/ substitute command was originally used by the qed text editor in 1965. /S/FOO/BAR/ is shorthand for 'SUBTITUTE /FOO/ FOR /BAR/' . However it didn't have the 'g' for global; that option was implemented by the ed text editor which was based off qed. This lead to ex, then vi and finally vim, which most Linux users would attribute the substitute command to. I'm sure there are a *lot* of other editors and languages that implement it, including Perl.
FunkyTuba:
I seem to remember an early Tai comic where she professed to be monogamous but that most of the opportunities she currently was finding were for open relationships.
That said, I know plenty of "wild" and free spirited people who were also monogamous. And emotionally inexperienced.
