I defer to the original radio series, which does not have the added statement.  The number of times it has happened is irrelevant, after all.

What's really interesting is that Douglas Adams made every version (radio, miniseries, books, and film) very different.  Once the earth is blown up, they diverge wildly.  I heard that the movie was written specifically for an American audience, which would explain why it's so different from the others, most notably in having what's reasonably close to a happy ending.

I always read Claire's expression in panel 2 as worry that Tai would embarrass her and try to set her up with Marten right there, and panel 3 as surprise that Tai would put the question to Emily so bluntly.  Of course, this is the same Tai who foisted the interns on Marten on their first day so she could get high and watch Adventure Time, so Claire should be used to bluntness by now.
