I came on to post the same thing. Jeph forgetting a minor episode from a year ago or crafty clue that Marten's really on a date with Clinton, impersonating his sister to get into Hannelore's circle of friends? You decide!

I was starting to suspect Claire's mother instead. The resemblance between the two has been more noticeable in these last few strips, her expressions and the shape of her face especially. Perhaps Clairemom is a bit of a shapeshifter? That could explain why Jeph couldn't quite seem to pin down her character design in 2804, 2805, 2806, and 2809...

Subtle hinting at the ship to come? Claire does seem awful flustered at the insinuation.

There's also the fact that she turned bright red almost instantly upon exposure to Henry, who is universally considered to basically look like an older and gray-haired Marten. Granted, that was after the lake house trip, so her crush on Marten was already in motion for sure, but still, there's some evidence that Marten fits in Claire's "rghfrgl" type range, she just kept it under control for reasons of professionalism (and possibly had some anxiety about the internship that was distracting her).
