FWIW, I don't think that this is 'similar themed' to the Ryan arc. If you're right that Peter has selected Mary from Joe's list, then this is more specifically about the consequences of Joe's thoughtless actions.

I think, in Mary's mind, she'd see them as similar... except worse, as she'd actually have been 'violated'...
