You know, I remember being puzzled why that first one would be a hate crime. I never caught on about the trans thing.
BenRG:
I think that today's comic has Sal's life at a turning point. If she messes up Malaya, Marcie may dump her, not wanting such a person as her friend. I have a bad feeling that, without Marcie to help her control her impulses, Sal may go off the deep end and try to destroy her own life in a massive acting out for attention and affection.
Naturally, doing this will just ruin her life and leave her future in serious doubt; how many academic suspensions/demerits can she rack up before the college throws her out? I honestly wonder if Sal will be the first would-be suicide that Amazi-Girl talks off a ledge.

I was about to type up something saying that was way too fucking dark for this.
Then I remembered what comic we were talking about.
I don't know. My feeling is more that what you're predicting, with Marcie abandoning Sal, but I don't know about the 'acting out for attention.' She has a history of that, but people don't repeat every one of their mistakes, especially when that mistake changed their life in such a drastic fashion. I don't think we'll see the Sal that robbed a convenience store, but we might see a Sal who opens up to new people more. Just Marcie's distance lately already has her coming to Joyce's dorm party, giving out details of how she lost her virginity.
It still could end the way you said, I mean, it's... it's big when your best friend in the world is suddenly not there, it must be so much worse for them to be there, pretending you aren't.

Really? You think this comic would go that far?

Joyce was nearly raped.
Sarah's last roommate was a drug addict.
Amber's dad abused her, essentially abducted Danny to use him as bait, and was put into the hospital by Amazi-girl's furious beating.
There's more, I'm sure, but the point is, Willis isn't afraid to go dark.
This ain't Garfield.
