I would say that Faye doesn't have an alcohol addiction, in the traditional sense. She isn't always or frequently drunk. She drinks socially, and as a (poor) stress coping mechanism. In that way she has a problem (the stress drinking, not the social kind). But she can also go long periods without drinking, presumably. Still, how much she drank was a problem point for Angus, so it's possible she drinks more than we see 'on screen' and she does have an addiction problem. But she doesn't fit the pattern of other addicts that I've known who pretty much need their fix on a daily basis.

Not quite. But now it seems the booze isn't intended for emergencies anymore.

Faye's addiction to alcohol was always of the 'stress coping' variety. Because of this, and the nature of her breakup with Angus, there was always the risk that she'd turn back to some form of chemical crutch to avoid dealing with her thoughts and emotions. That's a dangerous path and I'm wondering if she's unknowingly travelling down her father's path.
Fortunately, Dora has found out. Unlike Marten, she doesn't avoid confrontation, so a dramatic intervention may be about to happen (Hannelore on 24/7 Faye-watch? The CoD girls taking it in shifts to watch her?). I suspect that Marten might feel guilty about being so wrapped up in himself that he didn't notice.

That's... gotta count for something, right?

I think that it was a cry for help. Faye is too proud to ask directly, so she went the indirect route and basically told one of her friends that she's hurting and drinking too much by implication.

No, but it is a bit advanced for some.

I'm tongue Taid.

Marten's usually a good egg about other people's problems, but he's got a natural tendency to take people at their word. I'd say he knows Faye well enough that he should have seen through it, under normal circumstances, but's pretty high on endorphins right now. Love, lust, infatuation... that stuff'll impair you. There should warnings about operating heavy machinery.
Anyway, if Faye is seriously on that slope, Dora's really the one she needs. Marty is an awesome friend, but Dora won't put up with it. Addiction or no, Faye needs an intervention. Frankly, bringing this up to Dora is like asking for one, so either Faye knows that on some level or she's really gone past the bend. All other things being equal, I'm not betting on either.

I was thinking the exact same thing.
For Faye, a whisper for permission might be as close as she can get to a genuine cry for help.
"Ha ha aren't I being funny asking for this booze by the way I'm finding it really hard to deal with sobriety right now just incidentally"
... Oh man, imagine how she's going to feel the first time she changes the channel to see Angus on TV.
