Sad Guitar

sliptape:
(sorry for the necropost)
So, I was discussing with a friend what makes a guitar "sad". Now, the guitar in this (Marten's) case is presumably sad because it was being pawned. But what about other situations? We came up with a couple; I apologize if any have already been mentioned elsewhere:

- bad playing
- being in a generic (and by generic I mean what's been popping up recently) emo band (a-hah-hah, zing)
- guitars that were bought as presents for children whose parents wanted (and I mean REALLY wanted) them to be musically inclined ...
- ...and then, instead of being pawned, were put up in the attic and forgotten.

Personally I think it'd be worse for a guitar to be put away and forgotten than to be pawned, because as rough as it is, pawning brings hope. It's like putting up the guitar for adoption, I suppose.

By the way, I play an Arianna Strat-style guitar. Take that, Yamaha user!

From http://www.questionablecontent.net/merch.php we get TEH description Jeph put down for the Sad Guitar shirt:

--- Quote ---Why is this guitar so damn sad, anyway? Is he being pawned off? Is he being played poorly? Is his owner in a terrible emo band? The world may never know, but he sure does look nice on a t-shirt.
--- End quote ---

i bought sticker paper yesterday, and today i printed out my first sheet of emoticon text bubbles, which ranges from laughing to crying to devil-y. they are currently pasted all over my guitar case.

Huzzah for guitar! I play a Marten Drednaught Mahogany back acoustic. Fuck the model number, but it's the sexiest thing ever.
Also, Banjo.

Valen:
w00t for all aspiring guitarists.  there would be no music industry without us lot who sit at home painstakingly learning our favorite band's songs from ear, tab, or some other indescribable means...

Oh and me?  I play an Ibanez SZ520.  Awesomely low action.  Gorgeous flame maple finish.
