I thought she was supposed to be the same age as Angus (they went to college together), though I may be wrong.

Method of Madness:
Oh right. I guess we've never learned her age. Although I wouldn't be surprised if Angus/Marigold are younger than Faye/Marten.

--- Quote from: NilsO on 11 May 2015, 23:54 --- Pintsize is just a pervert most of the time, doing nothing useful for his human companion. Still, Marten seems OK with that, and is happy having him around (but is reluctant to take him outside their apartment).

--- End quote ---

Pintsize doesn't do anything useful now, but your comment gave me an attack of memory and I eventually found comic 2332. While he pretty much does nothing useful for Marten during the timeframe of the comic, Pintsize claimed that for two years in the time before the comic started, he was Marten's only friend. It wasn't until Marten met Steve (before the comic began) and then Faye (directly after the comic began) that Pintsize felt he could relax a little (spend more time looking at pornography).

It puts an interesting light on Marigold and Momo's relationship, as perhaps one day Marigold will be at a stage where Momo feels she will not die of a heart attack before she is forty or commit social suicide if she isn't there to watch over her. On the other hand, Pintsize also said to Momo there are plenty of ways to be an AI companion and her and Marigold had a different dynamic than the one he has with Marten so I could be talking out of my hat there.

It makes me wonder if AI companionship program exists to help socially unskilled humans, or if a higher proportion of humans who decide to enter companionship contracts with AIs do so because they have trouble connecting with their fellow humans.

This dropped a scene into my head: It's the end of Dale and Marigold's wedding reception. The bride and groom are riding off into the sunset and Momo is standing next to May.

MAY: "So, girl scout, now what?

MOMO: "Now... I want to live for myself for a while."

MAY: "Good girl! You know, I bought myself a touring bike from my savings and there is a big, big world out there!"

MOMO: "Downloading the complete ouvre of Jack Kirouak. *BLEEP* Okay, girlfriend! Let's do this!"

TinPenguin:

--- Quote from: Method of Madness on 12 May 2015, 07:21 ---I dunno, 21 is basically a kid, "woman-child" seems harsh.

It is? Damn, my parents still owe me five years of pocket money, then.
