Mad Max: Fury Road
de_la_Nae:
They're fine rides in and of themselves I'd say, especially if time period in which they were made doesn't bug you.
I mean, no Fury Road, but hey
The Seldom Killer:
Went to see it last night. It was awesome.
This is one of those movies that I think has a lot of appeal for fans of those old school action movies from the '80s that just don't get made anymore. It's not made exactly the same way but it has so much of what made those films brilliant but with those elements that would be anachronistic and replacing them with contemporary themes.
Like a lot of people, I was really apprehensive about what it would be like, despite the great swathes of hype. I only went because it was a day for a film with explosions, violence and a healthy dose of nonsense. It delivered on all counts and then some. I can think of a bunch of other actors that could have played Furiosa and the film still would have been great and enjoyable but Theron really just bumped it up to the next level. It's almost like she's too good for something like this but you're so glad she is.
Can't help but wonder if Miller quietly linked a narrative of Toecutter to Immortan Joe, possibly via Lord Humongous as Max's persistent Nemesis.

I'm still holding out hope that (click to show/hide)Immortan Joe's son (the big one) survived the crash at the end and becomes Lord Humongous.
It would explain the neck brace, burns, and hockey mask in the Road Warrior
RedWolf4:
(click to show/hide)Nah, Rictus just does not have the capacity if you think about it. Humungous was just way too charismatic. Most of Rictus' dialogue was parroting, like the bit where he learns about his baby brother.
Blue Kitty:
Mad Max meets Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
