It's not really insurance fraud. It's more of "Accessory to illegal robot fights". Not that insurance fraud is unethical. Most insurance companies will actively try to avoid paying out their policy, so they're acceptable targets.

Method of Madness:
That was a reference to using his health insurance to buy Faye glasses near the beginning.

Kugai:
I've said it before, and I'll say it now.

I think the Fight Club is, techically illegal, but is one of those activities that the Govt turns a blind eye to unless it becomes a problem or too 'Exposed' to the general public at large. So long as it's kept 'Under The Rose' so to speak, they'll take no action as it's an outlet for both Humans and AnthroPC's.

Undobutedly, the Feds do the odd Raid on the places just to show they're keeping to the letter of the law, but otherwise, they do the old 'Nod, Wink' about it unless, as I mentioned, it gets out of hand or comes too much under public scrutiny.

Neko_Ali:
Well, the way those things usually come about is when there is no money or publicity points to be earned stopping it. Making big noise about drug busts is good to keep that War on Drugs funding coming in. Traffic stops and DUI checkpoints keeps the ticket money coming in. Prostitution stings usually happen to appeal to the morality patrol types. Big cases of violent crimes like assaults or murder? Good for the reputation. But someone stealing car stereos, breaking into houses or an underground robot fighting right that few people know about? ehhh... If they can get around to it.

Yes, I am more than a little bit jaded.

Radium_Coyote:
Poor Marten! Is it too much for him to get a tiny bit of normalcy and complete unexceptional lack of weirdness in his life?

Dude's been to outer space, owns a robot, and works in a library with Tai and Emily and what's-her-face.  That would be actually a LOT to ask, but consider this:

Is Marten better or worse for having gone through this journey?  He's touched so many lives, and I think he's rubbed off a little on each of them.
