Goodbye Yelling Bird
Kugai:
de_la_Nae:
Mista J, Jephzibah, what else was there?
Nepiophage:
Does this mean no more Harriet (Sweet-tits)? oh no!
thedevilissix:
The bird is dead. Long live the bird. ( )
Nah, in seriousness I agree that it's a door naturally closed. Humour's moved on and so shall we.
Intrigued to know what might pop up in its stead-I'm most open to something completely new, to be honest! (Or even just more guest strips and Thanksgiving turkeys)
I've quite liked the 'Vital statistics' single-panel posts about the robots (and I suspect attempts to do sassy versions of this for the humans might be in the offing) and would hope that any future ones are spaced out quite a lot if used as filler comics in the future. It's the kind of thing that risks fatiguing really quick if done too often, imho.
(And now, for some reason I'm singing "Goodbye Yelling Bird" in my head to the tune of "Goodbye Leggy Blonde" from Flight of the Conchords. Yelling yelling yelling yelling, birdy birdy birdy birdy etc.)
Is it cold in here?:
--- Quote from: jaquio on 03 Aug 2015, 15:25 ---This comic is a graveyard of characters, jokes and themes that Jeph abandoned because he no longer found them funny or applicable.
But, in each of those instances, he simply stopped writing for them. (What's Raven up to these days?)
I find it telling that instead of simply letting this joke slip away into the land of forgotten toys, he made a very overt and public statement about how there will be no more YB.

Great point, and that is a good countermeasure against staleness.
