BenRG:
Well this could either be a new long-running plot or a bait and switch! I really don't know which at this point!

What's my guess? I'm thinking that it is going to be a throw-away joke of some type that won't be ever mentioned again. At the most, it will turn out to be a single-use Chekhov's Gun that will have a very specific use as a plot driver for a specific character arc and will never be seen again.

What would I like? Option 1 with a very, very cryptic comment about it being "part of Hannelore's heritage" and Dr Ellicott-Chatham hinting heavily on some kind of mysterious origin story for him and Beatrice. "We are... refugees, if you like. For everyone's safety, that had to remain secret. However, Hannelore is now old enough to know who she is... what she is."

Schwungrad:
I wonder what would happen if Ardent got his hands on the mystery device (that thought has probably already been mentioned by someone else; I didn't read all of last week's thread)

Nepiophage:
It's a gadget to detect if a boy is sincere when he makes advances to her.  He offered to fight Marten when he suspected him.

Kugai:
I'm still convinced it's a prototype Sonic Screwdriver

Mr_Rose:
P.S. Alice Grove isn't the future of QC; QC is the future of Alice Grove….
