We would see Sam, but Sam would look in the mirror and see Emily. Question is, what does Sam need to fix for Emily?

That looks like the beginning of some real interesting crossover fanfic there.

My first guess might be that Emily should have gotten help fixiing her code that switched all output to Eldritch runes. However, Ziggy estimates the chances of that being so to less than 11.3%.

OTOH we have

And Ziggy supports the idea by estimating the chances for "the thing that needs to be fixed in Emily's past life" not being part of QC canon - at least not yet - to be above 57.3%. This, of course, leaves open the chance for "the thing to be fixed" to have ramifications in her present life.
