Is that really a thing? I've been confronted with sexism all my life (especially my professional life), but I've never seen a salesperson that dumb.

Maybe it's just Chad.

--- End quote ---

Can't say I've experienced it personally, being male and all, but I've seen it happen. I think age plays into it, that salespeople like this Chad fellow think it's more okay to be openly sexist with a girl they see as a child. Problems arise when the client in question is just afflicted with baby face.

Deadman:
Because he totally gets kids coming into the store looking for expensive equipment like that for themselves all the time.

If he doesn't, I'd be profoundly surprised.

Akima:
High-on-pain-meds Hanners was lovely.

--- Quote from: BenRG on 11 Jan 2016, 23:07 ---FWIW, whilst I've met people who make gender-based assumptions about interests, I've never seen that extended to hardware purchases.
--- End quote ---
I've experienced it purchasing tools and bicycle parts, though it wasn't quite as explicit as Chad in the comic. There's some comedic exaggeration sure, but not that much.

Schwungrad:

--- Quote ---'Zoology, eh? That's a big word, isn't it?'
'No, actually it isn't,' said Tiffany. 'Patronizing is a big word. Zoology is really quite short.'

Terry Pratchett - The Wee Free Men
