Hanners is so cute in this one!  And so with the good advice!  "Hi, Sam and I got talking about video games and it'd be nice to have someone to play with.  Is that okay?"

nobody likes the zigzag tetris blocks

nobody anywhere

Yeah. The T-shaped ones are more useful when playing, because they fit nicely into a hole made for either of the zigzag shapes.

I still graduated. Also to 3D-tetris.

Hanners looks super-chic in that red coat. I want one! She only needs to put her hair in a pleat or bun, and she'd have the Hitchcock Blonde look down.

Okay, after the new hairstyle poll, we need yet another poll on what montage music needs to be playing over this comic.

Any song other than an 80s smash hit need not apply.

Edit: my vote is for "You're The Best"

If it's 80s we're looking for, I'd have to say Metallica, probably "Four Horsemen"

And she is as kind and thoughtful as ever. I´m glad that some things never change. And yes, the red coat is super cool. She looks perfect.

You know, I never realised that a near-shut-in gaming addict like Marigold could have such complex social problems! That said, it's kind of cute that she just wants someone to play split-screen co-op with her! :-D

I just hope she doesn't do something stupid like try to befriend Sam using a sock puppet account falsely claiming to be a 14-year-old girl.

Hannelore's new look is very womanly and mature. She's obviously come a long way from the 'borderline-manic neurotic ragdoll' of last summer. It would be interesting to learn how she feels now and to what she credits her greater stability and calm. Check out my most recent post in the Writing Club for my own preferred explanation! :-)

I learnt about Vash the Stampede sometime in the last six months.

I don't know why Jeph has taken to adding his notes to the copyright line (at least, that's where they appear in Opera).  And using the title to link a website...

I am all for long hair Hanners. It looks good and possibly shows some of her issues are easing if she's able to handle having it and its upkeep.

Also I want that coat in grey.

I think he noticed he made a typo, then made a slightly silly one the next day, and then decided to just start doing alt text there (instead of hover text like xkcd/DoA).

okay, so this shows that the time skip happened at 3126, and yesterday's comic was just showing faye's catchup. the last comic before the time skip showing people outside was 3105 which appears to be late spring/early summer, so let's assume that the time skip was from like May to January? yeah?

Nah, AprilArcus had a very thorough and detailed timeline worked out before Jeph borked it a few months ago, but it was sometime around September/October before the big jump.

And considering that 3119 was the last comic before the time skip, and the last of 2015 before the Bembo specials, today's strip sorry, the Faye montage might've worked better as the first comic of the new year/after the skip than 3126 did, but that's just me being nitpicky.

Non sequitur aside, that's an awfully long "anthropomorphizing a dog that hates being anthropomorphized" joke.

I think Hanners' hair type has changed. When she was introduced, she had straight hair (which may have just been limited by Jeph's style at the time), and now it seems to be floofy/wavy. Just a thing I noticed.

Comic! It is very nice to see Jephs scetch before he draws the lines. I´m used to the pencils of my daughter (who uses Maga Studio 5 too) and it is interesting so see the differences. She goes into much more detail in her layout before the real lining starts.

Marigold brings up an interesting point here. Will Hanners ever get over her anexities? She is afraid of physical contact, we know that. But how about a platonic relationship? Would she be able to bond emotionally with a nice guy, if he doesn´t put her under pressure? Or is her fear of physical contact so overwhelming, that it keeps her from a platonic relationship with a man she likes as well? Is she able to let herself fall in love with someone?

We haven´t seen much development of Hanners character in the course of the series. She has taken some small but very important steps (hugging her father in the space adventure, kissing Sven after the pretend date, getting poked by Marten and Dora for example). But basically her issues prevail.

Jeph has made a time jump. To set things in motion, to show that the lifes of his characters are getting on.
Maybe he will start to tackle Hannelores issues too.
I´d love to see that.   :-)

At least in my case, it took quite a while for my contamination issues to reach their current state, and I *have* had physical relationships before.  Even with a months long time skip, any potential *elore ship would still be in dry dock at the beginning of construction.

The thing about tigers is, while they are dangerous, a wise person who treats them with respect can enjoy a good relationship with one!

Seriously, I do understand where Hannelore is coming from. For her, like many accursed with anxiety-based disorders, it is the fear itself that is the most terrible thing - automatic and irrational; impossible to overcome with logic and reason because it is, by definition, illogical and unreasonable! Ultimately, it will depend on whether there is ever a relationship in her life that is strong enough that it makes her determined to confront and overcome her fear.

Whilst posting: get well soon, Jeph!

Makeouts are like shaggy dog stories: the longer the better, but if nobody groans at the end you did something wrong.

Feel better soon, Jeph.

I think Hanners' hair type has changed. When she was introduced, she had straight hair (which may have just been limited by Jeph's style at the time), and now it seems to be floofy/wavy. Just a thing I noticed.

Hair texture can change naturally over time a bit. My hair goes wavier when it's shorter but the longer and heavier it gets, it seems straighter.

About Hanners 'looking great from afar'. I'm not sure she felt that way when she ran away from Marigold&Dale in 2590

@hakko504,

To me, what Hanners saw there wasn't 'afar' but very close-range and was getting very messy.

I'm with BenRG there, that was basically shotgun range, with extra splash radius and all that jazz.

And yeah, 3rd party sloppy makeouts within 10ft range are not a pretty sight to see, anxieties or not.

Makeouts are like nested Russian dolls:
They tend to lead to more makeouts?

Wait, what? I thought she only hugged him. Am I forgetting something?

I wouldnt fear tigers if I was sitting in a tank.

You know, like half a meter of metal and other sturdy stuff between them and me, and a machine gun on top, and a big gun, and a motor, and a full load of gas in the tank.

Well, I would still fear I'd accidentally drive them over. But, you know, not otherwise.

Thinking about it, a tank in africa would be pretty hot. I mean, really hot. So maybe still a poor choice.

Okay, I'll just keep my distance to tigers anyway.

It makes me think of this:

I'm old enough to remember when Esso used that as their ad campaign. Hell, I'm actually old enough to remember Esso before it became Exxon.
