Kugai:
And we get to see some of the parenting skills of Veronica.

Tova:
It's easy to see why Faye and Sam get on so well.

MrNumbers:
Suck it, BenRG, I called it!

Less narratively interesting? Sure, but it allowed Jeph to make a poop emojii joke!

BenRG:
This is the point where Faye cements her credentials as Sam's 'Cool Older Sis'. Probably as an 'unwholesome influence' too but I think that Jim missed the bus with respect to keeping Sam on the straight-and-narrow some time ago!

Meanwhile, panel five lets us see the Bean family together and remember just how normal they are. Normal is the thing that Veronica has been craving for some time, after all!

--- Quote from: tomveil on 21 Apr 2016, 08:17 ---I just noticed that today marks the 19th straight strip without Marten -- and I think that's fine with everyone.  Jeph has gotten REALLY good at telling stories that stand on their own, which means that Marten isn't needed to tie the strips together.

The Dale/May interaction at 2490 went 25 strips without Marten. Then there was a few queststrips (including Marten but not penned by Jeph) and the comic continued with Fayes promotion for another week before Marten finally reappeared properly. So it has definitely happened before that Jeph writes long sequences without Marten, but they are rare indeed. And quite fun to read. Since the timeskip, it seems like all the Marten/Claire strips have been about how happy they are together and most of the action has been elsewhere.
