IDK, Brun seemed fine with the idea of Renee going on a date with Pintsize (clearly she's never met him).
Pretty sure that's a reaction shot of the assorted deliscious non-factory baked goods spilling on the floor. Her favorites likely being most of what's not salvagable (according to the health code).

Did Hanners used to straighten her hair when it was longer? Cos it was never that fluffy when it was long.

I suspect that the current floof is author appeal. Even if we can explain away pre-haircut Hanners as something early that was retconned, in strip 2134 we see a flashback to her as a little girl. I suspect that in that state, she wouldn't sit still and stop either flailing or trying to kill long enough for anyone to straighten that.

Also, long hair is heavy. This obviously hasn't affected the floof on Claire, but Hanners may have the kind of floof that is unsustainable when her hair gets too long.
