oddtail:
On top of that, cultural taboos about eating human meat arguably have roots in times before reliable preparation of meat to remove all parasites, pathogens etc. was possible.

Same reason meat that spoils easily or hosts difficult-to-remove parasites tends to be "unclean" in some major religions.

St.Clair:
Yup.  Kosher dietary laws, the Shinto prohibitions against handling blood or feces, etc etc - all examples of simple, sensible rules for "the faithful" to follow, to reduce their chances of getting horribly sick in a society that hasn't come up with germ theory or food preservation yet.

BenRG:
Someone over on the Subreddit mentioned how long it has been since last winter in-comic. It's been around 1950 strips, all told!

It's fascinating to consider all the things that have happened since then. The Dorapocalypse, the Fayepocalypse, Claire, Dora and Tai pretty much ending up as a permanent pairing, the very nature of CoD changing and the entirety of the Angus character arc...! A year is a long time, even in the fictional world. I wonder where everyone will be in Strip 5000?

A nearby elk farm, or perhaps, a petting zoo.

Who knows, maybe she's going to make some poronkäristys - a little lingonberry, some mashed potatoes. Tasty!
