..and asking for inclusion in the alternative caption contest.
BenRG:
It's a complex equation and there's no obvious answer but I think that Claire is in the position today where she needs to work it out: Just when being polite to someone by listening to them talk (even though you have no interest whatsoever in the topic) become being condescending and rude? I'm not sure that Brun is the sort of person who needs to be soft-soaped like that, worse she has a very absolute definition of honest behaviour.
Of course, I might be guilty of being too cynical here. It's possible that Claire really is a trivia sponge and loves hearing people rattle on about their hobbies and interests.
Frankly, Brun comes across as sweet on a certain childish level in panels 4 and 5. Either that or she knows perfectly well that doing this will freak out Claire and this is direct revenge for humouring her!
Penquin47:
Maybe I'm not cynical enough, but I didn't see any lying in Claire's statements. Maybe I'm projecting because I would probably love to hear Brun talk about clocks too, because even though I'm not interested in clocks necessarily, hearing someone like Brun talk about their passion IS interesting. Brun, of course, has probably heard the "no really it's okay keep going" line before from people who ARE just being patronizing, but IMO that's not what Claire is doing.
Tova:
I too am happy to assume Claire is being honest unless there's a reason to believe otherwise. Brun obviously believes her by the last panel, too. So, I'm the other way around from BenRG, although maybe I'm just terribly naive.

She's gotta get new pun material somewhere.
