That is a hangover from the badly handled sacking of sacking of Pete Best from the Beatles in 1962. He was arguably the most popular member of the group at that time, so there was much bad feeling, and to this day it is not entirely clear why it happened. A comparison of three recordings of Love me Do, with Best, Ringo, and Andy White (a session drummer) suggested that Best was probably the least good of them.
