He and Cosette are in a dedicated relationship. Presuming the length of either time skip and the amount of time between to have been over 2 years (2 1/2-ish), Steve and Cosette would be common law married in most states.

Actually there are only nine or ten states where you can currently establish a common law marriage now, according to this FindLaw article.
(Note that DC is included on the list. Does that make all the married politicians permanently in bed with lobbyists guilty of bigamy?)

I think we'll get a poly couple soon (on screen, I know Tai was in such a relationships before) but I feel like Steve and Cosette aren't going to be it.
