Didn't know who Rich Mullins was, but apparently he died before any of these characters were born (well, at least these characters as of a year or two ago).

Joyce is wigging out hard core. This dream may shake her up a bit for the next few in-comic days.  :-(

So are we watching Joyce (read "Willis")'s extraction from God Bothering?

Part of me thinks it's a bit sudden, but.. you know... dramatic timing and all that.

LeeC:
I am guessing (hoping) he is going to tell Joyce that the person she can trust and look to for guidance is herself. Or he leaves a cryptic message about it that sticks with her. Like Ghostface in the Boondocks, or the stereotypical Buddhist monk that imparts wisdom in the astral plane type deal.

Also, is anyone else noticing that Joyce's clothes change every few panels during this entire dream sequence?
