I don't know if I'm just tired or if its the words used in todays strip but I am confused on how that means the family had a problem with Halloween. :psyduck:

Because what she remembers is her brother having to prove to her parents that they'd done it with their other children, and it wasn't a problem back then. That implies that it is a problem for her parents now; or when she was of an age to be taken trick or treating.

Oh, so Joshua had to prove to their parents it was okay to go trick or treating and he'd take her out but her parents didn't participate? Or did they just do it anyway?
Cornelius:
I don't think her parents participated. It's not exactly clear if they grudgingly allowed it, even after the pictures. He took her anyway.
