It could be either. It could have been Ruth realising that it was the way madness lay or it could have been Booster, realising that they weren't being paid to peer into Carla's brain and that meant that they weren't being paid enough to try!

I thought it was Booster not giving in to Carla, so she couldn't be the center of attention.
