It seems like Mr J. forgot to switch palettes after coloring Melon. That is melon's skin tone on may, and she's usually bluer, as can be seen in the other panels.

Yes, it would ;)  "Senpai" is the standard romanisation of the Japanese characters, but "sempai" is phonetically more accurate.  Another example is "tempura" - this would be written "tenpura" by a "literal" romanisation.
