Anyone here ever make soda bread? I looked it up in response to this comic and it got me all inspired. Is it more difficult than it sounds?

Not really. It's easy to learn how to do it, and just requires a bit of practice to learn how to do it well. It's a great way to introduce children to breadmaking, actually. The main trick is simply to avoid overworking the dough.

I think the interesting thing about soda bread, or quick bread in general, is how different cultures have their own version (damper in Australia).

I can certainly understand how a baker would appreciate the beauty in the simplicity of soda bread.
