Poor Claire! It's all been a bit too much for her! I wonder if she's going to wake up tomorrow and find her blurred memories and perceptions of the previous day a source of panic? Fortunately, reassuring frantic and highly-strung young women does seem to be one of Marten's life specialities.
I think that Marten should consider these events to be a positive indicator of progress. Claire does not seem to be the sort of girl who inadvertently injures him whilst intoxicated. I'm sure that they can build on that! :-D

I was imagining that the wrath would come from something completely unrelated to the dog. Like, years from now, after most of us have forgotten that Cosmo has a mysterious past.
"You have thwarted us, and there are normally consequences. However, Cosmo is very happy in her new home, thus we shall not destroy you today"
"Oh, that's where she came from!"

If indeed Spookybot were at all involved in this, I can only imagine it would be because it was they who bestowed Cosmos upon them.

A very old one - Marten's first ever date (pre-canon), IIRC. A tale related first in the first 1000 strips!
