Mays new Chassis

Mr_Rose:
Agin, I posit that, as a matter of security against both info loss and infiltration, Bubbles either cannot be removed from her chassis without destroying the processor/storage or the chassis is deliberately inhospitable to any AI that isn’t Bubbles. It would make sense from a military perspective and they would totally do the same to their meat soldiers if there was a realistic chance that they could have their brains swapped with an enemy while being held captive.

You do lose a lot of rights, but not your body. Sure, proper care of it seems hard to come by.

My point is more that it's been argued before - here, if not in the comic - that any investment made into the chassis, no matter by whom, counts as an investment much like training and working out, or even feeding and raising a child. And that by that same reasoning, any (modification to a) chassis is inalienable property of the one inhabiting it. This came up specifically in the discussion of why Bubbles was allowed to keep her chassis. I'm not sure, but it might be word of Jeph, even - my memory is a bit hazy on that.

Edited to fix quote

That would make sense.  In a case like May's, they might install tracking hardware/software to dissuade them from associating with suspect individuals.  Also a tap on their wifi and processor to keep them from  either selling processor time or logging on to specific sites or networks.

Gyrre:
Something like this except upsized to a PowerWheels toy.

On the other hand go back to 147 (https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=147) and we have the Robotics Defense Agency claiming the right to confisticate Pintsize' chassis. Although to my mind its really rather unsound to claim such early stuff as being definitive.
