--- Quote from: Tova on 14 Sep 2020, 06:01 ---Regardless. I still think that a poll like this that excludes Hanners is weird. That was just my reaction. She still feels like a central cast member to me even if she doesn't appear as frequently as some others.

I respectfully disagree. She's a popular character, but she isn't part of any of the current main two-plus-one storylines (Roko's dissociation, the Elliot/Clinton/Brun/Mille romantic tangle, and May's new body). I actually think Melon doesn't belong in the poll either. She's too one-dimensional to be a major figure.
(I'm sure I'm missing storylines here, and I've omitted others--Dora and Tai's wedding, for example--because they haven't been touched in months.)
--- Quote from: Tova on 14 Sep 2020, 06:01 ---And while I'm repeating myself, Bubbles and Faye, despite being glued at the hips, remain separate individuals that can be liked by readers together or individually.
--- End quote ---
I do agree with this. Dora and Tai almost never appear apart anymore, yet they have wildly different personalities. Same with Marten and Claire, Veronica and Jim, etc. I don't think it's fair to call them "[essentially the same character]."

You're a CS grad, right? How difficult would it be for you to write a smartphone-app that could infer the user's height from, say, the users' shadow upon a wall if the wall's height and relative position of the lightsource is know?
[Insert here any other method you can come up with to infer world-coordinates from measurements routinely accessible to a humdrum-ordinary real-world smartphone - There's freeware motion-capture apps that give decent results using a kinnect's sensors or a bunch of webcams. Other's can turn your smartphone into a 6DoF motion-tracker using the build-in acceleration sensors and its camera for drift-correction. IIRC, Google routinely supplements GPS positioning data used by Google-maps by triangulating signal runtimes of known local wifi-hotspots. Your own eyes & brain do triangulation using data from the muscles orienting your peepers.]
Tova:
AIs aren't computers, and most of their 'computing power' goes into maintaining their sentience.
We've been over this.
Also, if AIs have this ability to look at people and accurately determine their height, then what does the quality of their chassis have to do with it?
Farideh:
Comic's up.
Aha, Beeps and Lemon are acquainted with each other. That should provide some backstory :) Lemon is correct though - that tracking software is very creepy and invasive.
