Schadenfreude is definitely a thing. Bad things happening to others has been popular entertainment for as long as people have been telling stories, and likely since before the species developed the ability to speak.

Destroying the kitchen while cooking is absolutely hilarious.

Except grease fires.  Grease fires are no fun.  Always keep a pot lid and baking soda handy.
