I know with the global pandemic there may be many forum users unable to celebrate Halloween like they usually do, but some may have found a way to have their own Halloween this year. And maybe those who found a way to have a Halloween can spread a bit of the season's cheer here with their stories\pictures.
We opted to do trick or treating this year. The plan was that my 2yo and I would wear masks and go door to door and do our thing. My wife and 1yo would stay home to give out candy. I wanted to make sure my wife didn't have any trouble, so I made a candy chute. I went to home depot, got some PVC pipe and some orange spray paint. I sprayed it over night and then used electrical tape to give it black candy stripes. My girls had Halloween sticker books and decorated it in stickers. My wife was adamant of getting a Jason mask and cutting a hole in the mouth to be the end of the chute, along with a sign indicated to put the trick-or-treater's bag there.
I then zip tied it to the front step railing. This way my wife, who will also be wearing a mask, can grab a handful of candy, reach out from behind the glass door, and put candy in the chute. I also assembled a Halloween spotify playlist that we blast out our window to help invite kids.
It snowed yesterday. so most of my Halloween decorations was covered, but the orange and purple lights I set up looked great reflecting off the snow. The cold froze the pumpkins solid so we were unable to carve them this year.
As for trick or treating, my daughter and I wore our masks. She has been really into Sailor Moon lately so we all went as characters. My 2yo was Sailor Moon, my 1yo was Sailor Mercury (since she has short hair), my wife was Sailor Venus, and I was Tuxedo Mask.
We bought My wife and 2yo their costumes and made mine and my 1yo's. This is our first Halloween where we could actually Trick-or-treat in a neighborhood instead of having to go to an event. My 2yo is really good about wearing her mask. The neighbors were too, some just left candy or bundles outside on a well lit table. There were groups of people not wearing masks but we made sure to keep our distance and just wave hello. My daughter got to socialize a bit and talk to some of the kids and adults. A lot of the adults that knew who we were lauded the candy chute and loved her costume. One stuck his head out of his window and was so excited to tell me how much he loved it. My wife said when he came by with his kid he google video chat his wife so she could see it. I think I made his night haha.
