That may be, but the `crystal knife' is well documented and configured properly. The `sliver coated edge,' on the other hand, is too poorly documented to ever be.

I have weird dreams sometimes. Occasionally I learn things. It's usually best to be careful what books you read in a dream if you can help it. I suppose I should start writing some of it down, though. Sorry if that sounds weird or cryptic.

Dreams are post-veritable fonts of wisdom, but the metaphor was clear enough---no pun intended. More generally, it suggests the inaccessibility of non-phenomena (crystal), the utilization of such technique (knife) requiring (by noumenalization) some phenomenal artifice (silver coating).
