Hanners is "pushing with her eyes", like they say in "Lanfeust de Troy", a french comic. It's an heroic-fantasy comic, and in their world, most people have one single magic power. And to help kids to discover their power, the grown-ups explain "you need to push with your eyes".

Case:
I could use one of those teas ...  :-D

DaiJB:
Typically, my imagination is going in all sorts of weird directions:

This skill is something Hannelore learned during her travels, from the monks in an obscure monastery in the Himalayas;

Hannelore puts too much oomph into the tea - upon her first sip, Claire is overwhelmed by Hanners' LOVE AND SUPPORT, falls madly in love with Hannelore and dumps Marten;

Marten inadvertently smells the tea on the way home, blacks out and wakes up two days later in an alley, with no recollection of what happened in between, except that he has a wedding ring and a tattoo on his chest that says "Hank";

Dora sees the effect and, dollar-signs in her eyes, starts selling Hannelore's metaphysically-enhanced teas until the Food and Drug Administration shuts her down;

etc...  :roll:

BenRG:
FWIW, I've long thought that Hannelore is transhuman. Specifically, Beatrice didn't just want a daughter, she wanted a perfect heir and hired Dr John to mix one up for her. Hannelore thus has a wide range of genetic advantages but, unfortunately, they all meshed together in a bad way and is responsible for most of her mental health issues.

However, should she really let go, I suspect that her bones are as tough as Bubbles' endoskeleton and she can probably bench-press an SUV (and then drop it yelling about how dirty the underside of cars' chassis are). Then there is the evident extrasensory abilities that let her 'charge' tea in the right way for synthetics to have a good trip!
