WCDT strips 4486 to 4490 (22th-26th March 2021)
cybersmurf:
Oh my god, that "I have no idea what I'm doing!!!" tension is killing me. Mostly because I know that feeling all too well.
Elder Sign:
I don't know. I sense another obstacle coming. If they were going to kiss yet it would be the climactic point of the strip.
My instincts tend to indicate that Elliot, and possibly Clinton as well, is/are going to have last-minute second thoughts, spend a couple strips defusing them, then they'll have the moment everybody's been squeeeeing for right at the end of the week (or at some key number like #4500, which allows time for the tension/pressure to abate somewhat).
Bear in mind that Marten and Claire getting together was pretty drawn-out (no pun intended) for drama, and neither of them seemed to exhibit anywhere near the degree of anxiety currently involved.

"We cannae change tha' laws o' webcomic physics! We've got to ha'e five more strips!"
Perfectly Reasonable:
Many metaphors died to bring us this information

I'd say that in that relationship, it was less "drama" that Jeph was after, but more trying to be hyper-careful for nothing to look forced, and to be done (perhaps too) carefully. As bad as our culture is with LGB people, and their representation, two dudes kissing/boning/forming a healthy loving relationship are far more common and accepted than relationships with a cis-het person and a trans woman.

Right, I guess I kind of miswrote. Marten and Claire getting together was supposed to be this big pivotal squee-heavy drama moment but in a positive and happy way.
That said, I think Jeph overdid the positive, happy, careful handling to the extent that the next hundred strips or so afterwards were nothing but wall-to-wall, uber-rainbows-and-unicorns, total all-consuming focus on the two of them that it got a bit much IMO. But, then again, he was helping compensate for a lot of deeply flawed and/or biased popular culture out there.
