I read "They" as "they - humans in general" than "They - non-gender specific pronoun"

I don't have a link to it, but quite some time back Jeph explained companionship contracts and said that QC society was increasingly unfriendly to the word "owner". I'm not sure but that may even have been before the ERA.

I like the idea of Pintsize in a new body. While other characters have been changing, even growing/evolving, Pintsize has not.
His friends, well peer group, have all taken on humanoid bodies. This will help him interact with them more.
I'm interested in Pintsize again. What is he going to do? How are other people going to react to him?
