Claire isn't wrong here. Finances are OK now, but as soon as someone moves out the entire house of cards will come crashing down. Would it be better if Marten started looking for another job (he wants a career change anyway) so that Claire can get his? They'd have to run it past Tai first, but I don't see her refusing Claire the position.

There are two outcomes to the Claire's post-graduation job that I can see at the moment:
* She becomes the equivalent of Roko in Beepatrice's office (possibly including managing the test data archives)
* She gets a junior librarian's job at Miskatonic College with all that implies.Meanwhile, I'm wondering if Pintsize is aware that they're just ignoring him or if that doesn't matter because saying it at them is all that he needs for personal fulfillment!

In the USA, sadly yes.
Frankly I have no clue why anybody is still living in that country. You have a perfectly fine Canada just to the north of you. They speak the same language (okay, plus French), they have a good social state, they are so much more, sorry, civilized ... what keeps you in the USA ? I'd be in such a hurry to leave if I would have to live there.
