--- Quote from: Wombt on 24 Nov 2021, 05:13 ---From my experience taking pottery classes, things generally cool down in the kiln. If you open the kiln while it's still too hot, you'll ruin the pottery. You can get things the day they come out of the kiln.

ETA: Also, Pintsize should be proud. A jug like that is hard to make.

--- End quote ---

The worst thermal shock is in the cool down, most low fire clays shatter due to chemical water not being fully cooked out of the crystal and the shrink rate of the clays. There's a lot of high fire clays that can handle hard thermal shock and there's awesome techniques utilizing it like Raku where they take an orange hot glowing piece out of the kiln and huck it into sawdust, straw, newspaper, or any other solid flammable material and cool it down in less than an hour. Fast flame firing and hot handling would also be something robots would probably excel at, and find enjoyable.

As a side note, regarding Robot Dong, we never got to see the finished piece that Faye made for Pintsize.  I hope we get to see that giant veiny metal megarobodongus in all of its cock and balls glory.

Farideh:
They did make that for old-chassis Pintsize, not new-chassis, so the proportions might be off.

Tova:
Or they may now be slightly less off.

Farideh:
Well, proper proportions are in the eye of the beholder ;)

Scarlet Manuka:
Or some orifice of the beholder, at any rate.
