Conducting the funeral for a defendent you represented would be nowhere near as uncomfortable as conducting a funeral for someone killed by a defendent you had represented.

"See ya later, Emmett", Jeph says. Anyone want to bet on how many months it will be before we see them again? IIRC, Dan came back a couple of times in the background fairly quickly after his introductory arc before he, Renee and Brun were seemingly seen off at the bus station.
That aside, I'm afraid that Bubbles is right about how obvious he and Sam are (yes, I think it's mutual although Sam is better at hiding it). I'm just wondering how long it's going to be until everyone just reflexively talks about 'Sam and Emmett' as if where one is the other will inevitably be!
