Reminds me of a post I saw recently about the wild things people raised with money will ask other people. The post concluded with someone sardonically posting, "Have you tried being born into money? It's easy! I did it all by myself."

Meritocracy is one of those things that sounds great on paper, but the praxis is almost impossible.

I think that dream is a kind of flashback to the worse days at the convenience store. One way or another, May is well rid of that phase of her life!

Basically the same reason as us and even a similar mechanism - the sensory processing parts of the brain reacting to short term memories being sent to long-term storage.
