What the heck is "puffs" ?

My dict has no explanation.

I mean it has a lot of translations, but none that refer to any kind of food.

Puffed Grain

--- Quote from: Gyrre on 07 Jun 2022, 02:32 ---To be fair to Emmett, the only healthy cold cereal I cared for as a kid was oats. Honey O's and frosted miniature wheats tended to have quite a fair bit of sugar on top of the otherwise relatively healthy cereal base.

It is a shame that Quaker Oat Squares (or its generic knock-offs) are not available unsweetened, or artificially sweetened.

Also a shame that cereals that are fundamentally based on sweetness, like Peanut Butter Crunch, are not made in an artificially sweetened version.  We might have fewer diabetics if artificial sweeteners could become the default.

1) HFC is cheaper
2) The cheap artificial sweeteners tend to be the ones linked to cancer.

--- Quote from: BenRG on 06 Jun 2022, 22:59 ---Hello, new character in the form of Professor Becky Bennett, the Canadian (and thus nice) mother of Emmett. I wonder what she's got a professorship in? It could be anything but one wonders if it is child development and thus we'll get a case of "unconsciously testing her theories out on her kids" scenario.
--- End quote ---

The answer was foretold to us exactly 100 strips ago. She is a professor of internet!  :-D

--- End quote ---
Then how can she be a nice person?

--- Quote from: notStanley on 07 Jun 2022, 11:00 ---Why would Jim not want Sam to have healthier cereal?  Does she turn into a grump without a daily overdose of sugar?

--- End quote ---
Maybe he doesn't want to buy it for reasons unrelated to nutrition -- e.g. only one store in the area carries that brand and it's out of his way, or there's a similar kind of cereal at a much lower price, or he dislikes something about the company and doesn't want to buy their products....

--- End quote ---

Or maybe his ex works there?

(I once had to drive a carload of teenage girls somewhere.  Finding a fast food joint that was not verboten for that reason was challenging.)
