While I'm sure the mother in that last panel is meant as a joke in a reference to a brother coming parenting practice, too bad she didn't try it from a different angle. One thing I find quite odd is how often someone claims something is rude simply because it makes them uncomfortable to think about or to admit that they don't know or understand. E.I. it's more rude that you're pointing it out to them, not the person that's being pointed at.

fun (but false) factoid:  When faced with multiple pockets of severe Clear Air Turbulence, barrel rolls can be the most effective avoidance technique!  If people had the same detection equipment as the cockpit, they would agree :}

The way I see it, it's just an extension from "we do not comment on other people's bodies", which is what I'm teaching my kids as well.
